New Book Provides Hope for Healing

Carl Mathis provides a refreshing take on the concept of healing

How do you heal? What are its most important components? How do you know whether you have been completely restored? Author Carl Mathis answers all these questions and more in a completely eye-opening way in his new e-book titled What's on the Menu. (http://www.CarlMathisBooks.com

Powerfully written and inspired, the book is a spiritual take on the concept of healing. Mathis believes that there is simply more to healing than just the physical restoration of your body's health. “I believe that spirituality plays a vital, if not essential, role in the process of healing,” he says. “In fact, I believe that you can't truly heal completely without it.”

With this in mind, Mathis makes a deep exploration of the spiritual dimension of healing, touching on the all-important points of believing in God and the benefits of enjoying a personal relationship with Him. He also explains the vitality of making the Word of God—the Bible—and prayer a regular part of your life, particularly if you are praying for healing.

“Jesus is our ultimate healing source,” he shares. “And the fact is that we all need to have a personal relationship with Him so that we can connect to Him and pray for the healing of our bodies, no matter what illness we are afflicted with. This relationship needs to be developed and nurtured through the reading of the Word and prayer, which we should make a habit of.”

He stresses that the Bible contains powerful messages that speak to the spiritual soul and somehow bring about physical restoration and full health. “In order to be healed, we need to receive the Word, believe in it, and confess it,” he declares. “And of course, we cannot do all this without that relationship to begin with. And the benefit of such a relationship is immense—not only can you experience physical healing in Jesus' name, but by committing your life to Him, you are gaining something that lasts beyond death—eternal life.”

Mathis has packed the e-book with Biblical references peppered with thought-provoking insights on the power of spirituality and how it helps bring about healing. Each chapter delicately touches on different aspects of spirituality—Jesus, prayer and the Bible—and how each one can be utilized to deepen your spiritual walk, and, as a result, bring about healing that has been blessed by the ultimate healing source.

At the end of the day, Mathis hopes that What's on the Menu will enlighten every individual on the concept of authentic healing and why spirituality is a powerful—and necessary—part of it. “We all need to realize that it's not just about getting out of that hospital and going back to the daily grind,” he says. “It's all about coming back a changed person with a changed perspective—that we are not just living for ourselves any longer. We are living for a far greater cause, and our healed bodies are a testimony of God's power and greatness.”

                                 Q&A for Carl Mathis

Tell us, in a gist, what this e-book is all about.

In a nutshell, What's on the Menu is a refreshing take on the concept of healing. Most of us believe that healing is mainly a physical and psychosocial process; however, in this e-book, I will be delving deep into the spiritual aspect of healing. I believe that spirituality plays a vital, if not essential, role in the process of healing—in fact, I believe that you can't truly heal completely without it.

How do you believe authentic healing takes place?

Healing, I believe, is a combination of different dimensions—the physical, the psychosocial and the spiritual are the main ones. However, all of this will be rooted in the ultimate healing source, whom I will be  talking about later. But there you go—if you want to experience life-changing healing from an illness or a physical disability, it's really important that you know which life and healing source to connect to in order to be recharged and fully restored.

How should you take care of your body physically and spiritually?

Physically, of course, it's all about living the balanced life. No matter the illness, it is always important to eat the right food and take the right supplements as prescribed by your physician in order to aid the physical healing process. However, spiritually speaking, you turn to the ultimate healing source and the things that represent it in order to heal.

You speak of Jesus as the ultimate healing source. Tell us more about this.

Yes, Jesus is our ultimate healing source. I believe that we all need to have a connection or an intimate relationship with him in order to experience the ultimate gift of healing that can only come from above. Why? Because it says in the Bible that Jesus is the vine, and we are the branches—and if we abide in Him, we will bear much fruit. By putting our trust in the Lord, we are gaining more than physical restoration—we are also granted the gift of eternal life, which determines our final destination after death.

What spiritual steps does one need to take to facilitate healing?

First, you need to make a commitment to Jesus Christ. Believe what He has done for you on the cross and accept Him as your personal Lord and Savior. Commit to Him for life. Next, get to know Him—develop that intimate and love-filled relationship with Him through prayer and the Bible.

How does the Bible fit into the picture?

The Bible is an important part of the picture! If prayer is how we communicate with God, the Bible is how He speaks to us. It is always important that we acknowledge the power of the Word of God, as every word on that page is God-breathed. We need to believe it, we need to receive it, and we need to confess it.

So much is said about how to use the power of the Bible correctly. What is your take on this?

Believing in the Word of God is all about believing in what you cannot see. You don't see God physically, but you know that He is there and that He will help you. Trust in the Lord God and His word with all your heart, and He will grant what's best for you.

When can you deem yourself victorious and healed?

When you are finally filled with the knowledge of God and have full faith and confidence in Him, that's spiritual healing in itself! Claim physical healing in the Lord and put your complete trust in Him and the rest will surely follow.

Life is What You Make It Q&A

What do you think it is about life that puts so many people on edge and causes unnecessary worries and anxieties?

I think that this day and age calls for lifestyles that are busy, fast-paced and absolutely hectic. We tend to get lost in the flurry of things, and sometimes the most important things are neglected. When we miss out on what really matters, this creates a vacuum in our lives that cannot be filled. We end up searching for the missing piece in all the wrong places, and this can cause all this unexplained frustration in living the unfulfilled life.

What does your new book Life is What You Make it offer as a solution to this dilemma?

Life is What You Make It offers biblically-grounded tips for quality living. It's all about changing what's within you to then affect change on everything else around you, resulting to a life that's well-lived and happiness-filled.

What are your key steps to making sure that life is lived to the fullest?

In my book, I have outlined several steps to living a full life—acceptance of the situation, conditioning the mind, making the right decisions, and finally, believing.

Why is it so important that acceptance of the situation comes first before anything else?

Acceptance comes before change—we cannot wholeheartedly act upon the challenge or the situation until we have fully acknowledged to ourselves that this is our new reality. A life without acceptance is a life that is filled with denial. And surely you cannot get any sadder or less fulfilling than that. Acceptance begins with self, and a recognition that this is the way things are going to go. But acceptance doesn't mean wallowing in your situation, either. It is simply what it is: acknowledging what is real and deciding to deal with it head-on.

What does conditioning the mind have to do with it?

It has everything to do with it! The mind is a mysterious thing, and we cannot fully understand its complexities. But one thing is for sure: that what we think and how we see things translate to how we deal with the situation. And so the transforming and the renewing of the mind conditions your actions and naturally points the way to your respective behavior.

How do all these work together to help one make the right decisions?

By an acceptance of your life situation and by conditioning your mind to create a positive, God-given perspective, you are then empowered to make godly decisions that are based on the Truth of His Word.

How is believing a necessary part of the whole process?

You cannot do any of these and approach it with a positive mind unless you believe. Just like an ad endorser, if you advertised a product that you yourself do not believe in, then the whole thing is moot, isn't it? It's the same way with life. You cannot go around doing things just for the sake of it and not really put your heart and soul into it. You have to believe! And this belief has to be centered on Truth.

What is your advice to the general public when they embark on this adventure and read your book?

Read the book with an open mind. Be ready for changes! Great things are in store for every life that yearns for the Truth, and when you embrace this, the way you see life will completely change for the better. Remember: it's all up to you.
