Life Is What You Make It: Seven Steps to Moving Forward
by Carl Mathis

Reviewed by Melissa McDary

Author, Carl Mathis writes from his heart and soul. It is inspiring to read a moving book where the author’s heart beat is felt on every page. Why? Because it makes the reader feel connected to the author and drawn into the message of the book. This is truly how lives are changed and impacted. This is how readers move forward in life.

It would have been easy for the author to write a story that would make people cry, but instead, a story was written that powerfully uplifts the reader, reminding them that through a reversal of fortune comes triumph.

Life is What You Make It: Seven Steps to Moving Forward explores how the illness and transition of Carl Mathis’s wife’s left him with a hole in his soul with a deep desire for someone, anyone to come rescue him. As the author writes, “I prayed but no help came.”

Believer’s can relate to this message because often we are living a life that we really wished we weren’t living. Other people’s lives look better than ours does, we have desires, needs, wants, fears, disappointments and set backs, but who can any of us really turn to? This is what the author delves into in the pages of this life-changing book.

Carl Mathis provides the reader with the seven steps he used to put his life back on track to heal, restore and create the future God had designed for him. Each step and section of the book provides a wealth of Scripture in which the reader can meditate and reflect on, as well as, journal about.

If I were to compare Carl Mathis’s writing style, I would compare it to Dr. Myles Munroe, Pastor T.D. Jakes, and Dr. Tony Evans. Fans of these authors and ministers will truly enjoy reading, Life Is What You Make It: Seven Steps to Moving Forward.

Life is what you make it teaches life lessons and would be a good reader for people of all ages who are seeking inspiration and motivation. Carl speaks with a voice of experience.”

"In Carl's book, he brings you face to face with the decision one has to make in facing the tragedies of life. As he did in his own, he offers choices that each of us must make to decide if we will give up or choose to follow in the narrow path of God's best for us."

He then decided to use the gift of writing that God has blessed him with to write this and other books. He prays that this book will encourage others to reach for the stars and to not give up on God.

Estimado Sr. Mathis,

Sinceramente,

Dayor Mayorga

Dear Mr. Mathis,

First of all, let me thank you for calling me a friend. As for the book, I do believe this is a piece of art for those of us who are trying to re-route our lives through God, the Almighty.

In one hand, what I experienced reading your book is the fact that nothing happens by accident but by a cause. This book has come to my hands and to my life at the right moment. On the other hand, the melody of your writing makes me heard my mother’s voice. It made me remember all the advices; she never got tired to give me throughout my life. Now that she had passed away, I know where to hear her voice.

As I already told you, it is not only worth it to read it once but to keep it on the night table as a guide for life and I will do that. I do believe that God has blessed you with that gift for writing. I know that the ability to express an idea in writing is not a “piece of cake,” then if it was, everybody would be writing their own books.

I have been blessed with very exciting spiritual experiences and I am sure that God has a special project in my life but because at times, I have behaved like a perfect idiot, I have detoured it but I am also sure that He has His own time.

As a matter of fact, though I come from a very strong Catholic family, in December 1990, I did received a prophecy, maybe we have some time to share,

In Spanish saying, “there is no first one without a second one.” I hope God keeps you inspired and bless us with another book from you.

May God bless you always.

Sincerely yours,

Dario Mayorga

That is the correct title for a book. LIFE IS WHAT YOU MAKE IT!! Because it is a known FACT that is true. If you live and follow NEGATIVE people you will do Negative things. And if you practice following POSITIVE people positive things will come out of you. I have (2) dgts. Teens and I always encourage them too be around positive people. But most importantly stay Focus on God, and all your blessings will flow down. I love my savior, because without him i could not do anything.

 Love Always, Mz. Sontoria Amos
