The benefit of being a Christian is that the Holy Spirit dwelling within us
convicts, prompts, and inspires a desire to follow God
wholeheartedly. From looking at your life, people should be able to know what God considers right
and wrong. The analogy Paul use to describe the lives of the believers at
Corinth“Forasmuch as ye are manifestly
declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the
Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.” (2
Corinthians 3:3 KJV)
If we consistently disobey God’s commands, we
will eventually develop a hard heart towards Him. “Be not deceived; God is not mocked:
for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the
flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.”
(Galatians 6:7-8 KJV)
Every Christian is called to active ministry.
That doesn’t mean we will all be full-time preachers or missionaries. But with the guidance of the
Holy Spirit, believers are to share the gospel through our words and our conduct. Jesus said
“My sheep hear my voice, and I
know them, and they follow me.” (John 10:27 KJV)
For example, when Philip follows the leading of
the Holy Spirit look what happened. “And the angel of the Lord spoke unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the
south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto
Gaza, which is desert. And
he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace
queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem
for to worship, Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet. Then the
Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot. And Philip ran thither to
him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest?
And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would
come up and sit with him. The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a
sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth:
In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his
life is taken from the earth. And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom
speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man? Then Philip opened his mouth,
and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus. And as they went on their way,
they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me
to be baptized? And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he
answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. And he commanded the
chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch;
and he baptized him. And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord
caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.(Acts
8:26-39 KJV)
Not only will the Lord show you the direction
in which you are to move; He'll also reveal to you His timing and methods. He will provide all the
information you need to take the next step wisely.
Many times in Scripture, the Lord told His
people to take specific action, but then instructed them to wait for Him to give the okay to go.
You can trust God to let you know when the time is right.
The disciples were instructed to wait on the
Holy Sprit before taking gospel to the world.” But ye shall receive power,
after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in
Jerusalem, and in all
Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. They were instructed to wait
for the power.” (Acts 1:8 KJV)?
God wants us to rely solely on Him and grow in
the ability to trust Him fully. That is why He calls believers to positions that have the potential
to stretch, mature, and transform them into the people He wants them to be. If you feel unable to
do what God asks, you are not alone.
Remember how Moses respond when God told him to
demand that Pharaoh let the Israelites leave. “Come now therefore, and I will send
thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth my people the children of Israel out of Egypt. And Moses said unto God, Who am I,
that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of
Israel out of
Egypt. (Exodus. 3:10-11
KJV)
However, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” (Philippians
4:13 KJV)
The Lord’s destiny for your life will further
His kingdom on earth and it will transform you. Not only will you grow closer to Him as you rely on
His ability, but discovering your destiny will also bring you great joy.
God has a plan for
your life that He is unfolding before you. Nobody else can fulfill your destiny. Trust the Holy
Spirit to lead and empower you, and you will succeed in fulfilling the Lord’s mission for your
life.
